Bishop Spark's love for music started at a young age. He grew up in Flatbush Brooklyn, with culture surrounding him at every corner. From the food, and the people...to the music everyone played. He was in the center of new discoveries and creativity. Growing up, his father always had him listening to a lot of jazz and Neo-soul. The music his father played really stuck with him.

“I feel like my sound draws heavy on Neo-soul music. Erykah Badu is my favorite artist and I draw so much inspiration from her sound, I'm also really onto jazz. I studied it a lot in college and it had a huge impact on how I approach music in my own creative process.

Bishop Sparks released a project at the beginning of 2020 called Brown Sugar Baby. He describes it as a piece of work that really made him proud to make music. “It was a time in my life where I just decided to make music that was purely in my soul. No expectations, just everything that was on my mind at the time. It really came out so well and I’m glad that people were able to get something from it.”

Bishop Sparks started performing at shows once he decided to throw them himself.

“It’s been such an amazing learning experience as both a performer and a show curator. My most memorable show would have to be the event I threw at SOBs. Everybody I knew from elementary school friends to college friends to the family came out. Best show I’ve ever done hands down.”

J Cole really inspires Bishop Sparks. He loves his style, his brand, and also all the artists under his label. Whenever he needs some inspiration or just wants to vibe out he puts on Dreamville.

In the future Bishop Sparks would love to work with Erykah Badu. “It would be a dream come true to work with Erykah Badu in the future. I would feel like musically I’ve come full circle. She’s one of my biggest influences so being able to work with her would just be perfect in every way.”

Right now, Bishop Sparks is working on releasing a ton of music for next year. There are many sounds and musical ideas he has been holding back. He feels next year will be the "perfect time" to really start showing exactly what type of talents he has been working on. In the meantime, he dropped about 11 songs this year from a full project to a handful of singles so he has a lot of songs out now for you to get in tune with.

Trust the process. Nobody has the same journey as another artist. It's all about finding what you like and working at it every day. Stay hydrated.”
